The Home Stretch

OK, this thing is just about toast.  And I'm about toasted.
Working my way through the proofs of Secrets of the Second Sun, and I have about half a chapter plus the epilogue to go.  Then I'll go back over a few spots (like the whole first chapter) and a few other spots (like maybe the second chapter), wrap it up, put a bow on it, and send it back to the publisher.
Then I get to hammer out a deal with them on all the changes I made over my maximum of 50; such are the issues you have to deal with in self-publishing.
As I said in my previous blog, I can't believe all the things I missed the first dozen times through the  manuscript; including one sentence I left the last half off of.  Why the heck doesn't spell-check catch this stuff???
So another week or so and I'll have this done, then send it on its way and wait for the corrected proofs to arrive.  I'm debating holding back a few extra days to give my brain a little time to relax from this task, then maybe looking the whole thing over one more time.
But it has to be done; I can't let the book be published unless I'm sure I've done everything I can to make it the best it can be. So I'll focus my bleary eyes and finish things up, and hope I caught everything that needed catching.
Keep your fingers crossed; I know my eyes are.
